Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Chocolate Fountain?
The chocolate fountain is a mechanical fountain specially designed for use as a "fondue". Chocolate cascades off round tiers while guests dip fruit, marshmallows and other accompaniments into the warm flowing chocolate.
How do I book a fountain?
Booking a fountain is easy. Simply fill in the booking form and we will contact you to discuss your event.
How far in advance should I book my fountain?
As early as you can. We are already taking bookings for next year.
What type of chocolate is used in the fountain?
We use fine Cadbury Dark, Belgian or Coverture chocolate in our fountains. These chocolates have a high cocoa butter content which makes the fountain flow smoothly and is ideal for chocolate fountain use. Dark, milk or white chocolate is available.
How long does it take to set up a fountain?
We will arrive at your event approximately 30 - 45 minutes prior to when you require the fountain to be running.
Who provides the foods for dipping?
Dipping food can be provided by us, as per our “Dipping foods” section. Alternatively you may provide your own dipping foods.
What do I need to provide for the fountain?
You will need to have a sturdy table, capable of holding approximately 50-60kg, a single phase electrical outlet within 10 feet of the table. The table will need to be large enough to hold the fountain plus all dipping foods, skewers and serviettes. Sitting on a regular sized table the large fountain is nearly 2 metres tall!
Can the fountain be used outdoors?
Unfortunately no, for the following reasons:
- Maintaining a warm temperature of chocolate is critical for continued smooth operation of the chocolate fountain. Depending on the time of the year and the general climate, this could be difficult to accomplish in an outdoor setting.
- Because of the chocolate’s sweet aroma, insects are very likely to be attracted to the chocolate fountain. This makes for an unappealing presentation and can cause unexpected complications.
